Rupert helps clients, legal teams, and funders to get the best legal, financial, economic, econometric, and risk management results, for their complex commercial cases. Rupert works across various sectors including: major disputes and international arbitration, financial markets and derivatives, competition and anti-trust, and M&A and private equity. Rupert advises on all technical legal, economics, finance and financial engineering questions and calculations, from biggest macro approaches down to smallest micro-level details, in relevant cases. Rupert focuses in particular on the financial and economics side of cases, and works closely with legal teams, external experts, clients and counsel to help ensure that the best available financial modelling, quantum and interest analysis, economics and econometrics, key calculations and related pleadings and cross-examinations, any 3rd party and litigator funding arrangements, and legal claims valuations, are being used and presented most effectively for the client, court and tribunal. Rupert combines 4 areas of specialist technical expertise: - Experienced magic circle lawyer and commercial and chancery barrister. - With a D.Phil/PhD in economics and option pricing, and a background teaching, researching and supervising economics at Oxford. - With c.10 years expert practitioner knowledge of financial markets pricing and valuation optimization and market and model data analysis and financial risk management gained at a AAA bank. - With the combined technical knowledge, experience and expertise needed to drill down directly into all the expert analysis and hold internal and external experts and their expert evidence and calculations to detailed scrutiny and account in relevant cases.
